Truisms, facts and so on

There is a similar topic in the "Other languages" board, in Bulgarian, so I think that it's a good idea to create an English topic here (in "Other topics"). We may post some truisms, facts and so on here. :)
(Even when you feel that something may be boring, don't hesitate to post it, because it may be useful for somebody else; for example, for me is a a long-known fact that the Beijing is capital of China, but for some non-Chinese pupils may be it'll be a useful new knowledge.)
Well, let me start it. :)
