A bit about the big boards/biggest forums/largest forums

Mojo you're talking deep, sweet and it's a pleasure to read and reread your post. 8) The only thing I wish to explain is that it's not exactly true that
Quote
forums are on the decline
and there are some noticeable (noteworthy) examples (if we own something like this, we'll be probably very rich :P):

Some of the biggest/largest forums

Some of these biggest forums (largest forums) are (links to their Alexa.com's rankings):

http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/conceptart.org (with currently 3,599,276 posts.)

http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/gaiaonline.com (with currently 2,319,787,683 posts)

http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/d2jsp.org and so on, and so on.  :) :) :)

So, well, according to their ranks and their amount of content (posts/articles) they're pretty popular.

My idea is, there is still a lot of opportunity for the forums, but not for every forum. :P

Mojo, you're currently at 'post: 4.923 per day'. Your 'per day' is good. Compare with my '0.458 per day'. ;D

You're absolutely right. Some websites with only 20-30 quality articles (posts) have got much more traffic than others with thousands of low quality posts. :)

Material and Moral Stimulation

You know... the stimulation. There is different stimulation -- material and moral stimulation.

We can't complain about the moral stimulation here, can't we? But the material...  :-X :-X :-X

An example. When I (or somebody else) participate in some of the food/cooking websites with a post (recipe with photos), we often get material presents like these... wait a moment... I'll show you 2 pics:

.

Maybe some guys will say it's not so necessary and it's just mercantile, but it's really better than 0, 0.0, 0.00000 and 0.0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 ... ;D ;D ;D

Social network | SEO - Social network / What is greed
« on: May 16, 2016, 05:03:09 AM »

What is greed

Well, it's an example what's greed. 8) Maybe. More about the greed:
Quote
Greed (OE grǽdum) is an inordinate or insatiable longing, esp. for wealth, status, and power.
As secular psychological concept, greed is an inordinate desire to acquire or possess more than one needs. The degree of inordinance is related to the inability to control the reformulation of "wants" once desired "needs" are eliminated. Erich Fromm described greed as "a bottomless pit which exhausts the person in an endless effort to satisfy the need without ever reaching satisfaction." It is typically used to criticize those who seek excessive material wealth, although it may apply to the need to feel more excessively moral, social, or otherwise better than someone else.
The purpose for greed, and any actions associated with it, is possibly to deprive others of potential means (perhaps, of basic survival and comfort) or future opportunities accordingly, or to obstruct them therefrom,, thus insidious and tyrannical or otherwise having negative connotation. Alternately, the purpose could be defense or counteraction from such dangerous, potential leverage in matters of questionable agreeability. A consequence of greedy activity may be inability to sustain any of the costs or burdens associated with that which has been or is being accumulated, leading to a backfire or destruction, whether of self or more generally. So, the level of "inordinance" of greed pertains to the amount of vanity, malice or burden associated with it.

I watched about a robot monk crated by a real monk -- Xian-shu from the Long-quan temple (in Beijing, China -- more about the temple: http://mt.sohu.com/20160424/n445896642.shtml, but it's in Chinese).

I'm busy online. :)

I want to confirm about one of the lies over there. He/she states that it shouldn't be too tough to figure out, but practically you can put in index29000.html or index320000.html. And it shouldn't be too tough to figure out? ::)

Really very unethical way to generate AdSense earnings!

Looks sort of romantic! I like those lovely houses. :-* And with the roses around, should be a good place to live in the spring, summer and autumn time. I suppose the winters are comparatively cold around there. :)

Thanks to one of our best participants and members here, I 'generated' a not that bad article about different linkbuildings, links, spammers, etc.

I think it may be interesting for some of the SEO newbies around. Enjoy. :P

Other topics / Spammers, spambots, benefits, win-win and so on
« on: May 13, 2016, 02:37:14 PM »
Thank you for your participation in one of our biggest giant threads, Mojo! :)

With a real spammer (man or woman) you can make some agreement (we had some situations here already) and you can have some mutual benefits: he/she posts his/her links, but also posts fresh, unique for your site. Fair enough and some websites (for example the blogs) use this win-win strategy.

But with the spambots you can't make any communication and they're practically useless for the website, so the real anti-spam fight should be with them. I think over here the 90-99% of the spam and/or duplicate accounts are generated by bots and we deal with them.

Maybe some of our guests/readers didn't get me. I'll show a fictional example:

Mr. X works for a SEO company and he is paid something like $ 0.20 per link. He targets a website, where he needs to link 3 times with a few keywords. The owner of the site may get something useful, if Mr. X contribute 3 unique articles, not only 3 links. If Mr. X only post his links, the owner probably will delete them. No win-win game. But, if the owner set a rule like: "links are welcome, but only if you contribute for me quality content", then Mr.X will get his $ 0.60 and the owner probably will earn something in the future (from ads, from selling the website, etc.)

If the X-bot is posting links, even when it provides some article/articles, it'll be not unique, it will be duplicated content, which isn't useful for any website. The owners can't talk to the bots to contribute something of real quality, so using bots doesn't make very good sense.

What is really ironic about it, is that I would never click on a spammer's post link.

Many of them don't need it. Their links are not for direct traffic (visitors), they are for optimization of their position in the SERP: if you have a quality linkbuilding (your links are in related threads in trusted websites) Google, Bing, Yahoo and others will show up your website in the top positions. And this is already the real big traffic. Imagine, if you rank number 1 for words like 'insurance', 'lawyer', 'money' or 'pizza', what great traffic is coming to your website and (if you have good ways to monetize it) what income is going to your wallet. :)

There is market for this (I'm not going to give it free ad, so I don't point to any website that provides this services). It's simple: Miss X wants a link with keyword 'jewelry' and pays USD 5 for it. Mr. Y has a related website (about silver rings, golden earrings, jewels, etc.) and creates the necessary link for Miss X... and gets USD 5. This is how it works.

Links for clicking (i.e. with primary goal to receive serious amount of visitors) are usually posted in websites with 'tons of visitors' as Facebook, Twitter, Reddit and around 5000 others.
