Food / Re: Whole Dried Cranberries (from USA)
« on: March 02, 2016, 05:19:34 AM »
Cranberries are really neat fruit. Normally during Thanksgiving, my lady always has to have a can of the jellied cranberry sauce or it just isn't Thanksgiving. While they have two diffferent styles of jellied cranberry sauce, one with whole cranberries in it and another without the whole berries, she prefers the one without for the taste but not the problems that come with trying to cut through them while slicing the jellied can contents.

Take a look here at the way they float the berries right after picking but before being sent to the processing plant.

That reminds me the Luke Skywalker's jet.

...errrr, that's what it is.

Only someone really good at photoediting has inserted it into an old photo.

I've a reason just to come out, fess up on the board, about who it was. You hear lots about 'free speech' in many places. But that's only 1/2 of it. The other half that is often forgotten is that with that comes responsibility for your speech. You don't just get to say what you want, regardless of how that might hurt others. So, I guess this is a demo of that. I created the fuss wrongly. I should say so. It's the honesty in the end over it that really matters.

And, btw, can't you pay your electricity online?

Yes and no. I refuse to use such services and here's why. When you sign up for autobilling from your bank account, you give them access to charge your account directly. But should you want to end that, banks aren't so quick to terminate this permission. For one they want to make sure they don't get stuck with hunting you down for autopay and then terminating the account. So it's not going to be as easy as signing up. For many of them if you can't quote and refer to the actual law that says you can terminate this permission, they are reluctant to do so.

For another, things go wrong with billing. When they do, you can be overcharged and then not even know it for a month till you get your statement. When you do find out, it's a hassle to get your money back. The first thing they will want to do is not put the money back but rather to say, 'You've got credit with us' and charge that against future payments instead.

When I first got out on my own, I had a mistake with my electric billing, in my very first small apartment. I had like 3 light bulbs, a refrigerator, a radio, a hot water heater, and a very small guitar amp. My bill for the month was $1000. There is no way I could have used that much power. The biller made a mistake with everyone on the street and they were charged business's power usage. It took getting off from work and traveling to the power company, only to find out all my neighbors were in line for the same thing. Took 1/2 a day to get it straight and the loss of a day's pay by not being at work. That was decades ago and the same power bill today would have been multiples of that. Could your bank account stand that and then not get the money back after it was taken out?

I thank you all for the anonymity but it's not necessary in this case. I'm the one who wrote about the missing photos in the post. It was not the deletion that bothered me but rather no explanation. As I had mentioned earlier in a pm, nothing is written in stone on the internet. What bothered me was there was no way to  benefit from it because no explanation.

Come to find out, it didn't happen. But some of the images were there and some weren't. I photoedited them to make sure they fit the forum size formats. No big deal but much nicer to see an image you don't have to scroll to take it all in. No big deal on that part, I do that for a better looking post.

Honestly I'm new here and will use this as a learning experience.

Much respect to the way this was handled in the public side. Speaks very much of 'professionalism' if there is such a thing in a forum.

If I have caused any upset, hurt anyone's feelings, allow me to apologize to you. It was never the intention to create a shit storm and that was why a pm and no post about. It's how you handle things like this.

What beautiful lanterns. I've never seen such before. Thank you very much for pointing this thread out. I really enjoyed it.

In the US we don't have a lot of history. Unlike much of the world, our 'civilized' history doesn't really go back that far. So we can't point to buildings and architecture that goes back hundreds of years. A couple or so at best. Same with traditions, holidays, and the like.

I found this very interesting.
