Finance
I'd like to learn more finance. I think it's a kind of science. And I will start with this Wikipedia's article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finance. Please, write more about it in our first big finance thread over here. Thank you!

Yahoo Finance
I would like to add that the Finance topic is something that I admire. What is our life without finance?! Finance is very important for us, for anybody, I think. Especially in the nowadays world, which is mostly and almost capitalistic.
I like Yahoo Finance. I read and learned many useful information from it. For example today I read "10 People You’re Not Tipping Enough"http://finance.yahoo.com/news/10-people-not-tipping-enough-125141636.html.
Very useful thread!

I do think Finance is useful. But I'm still not very good at it. I learned more Economics.

I'll try to give my answers of these Finance questions: :)
1. How can people protect themselves against unforeseen personal events, as well as those in the external economy?
I think people should try to save money. Then in case of unforeseen personal events, they will be more protected. Also people should try to invest not only in savings (money), but in something else like: lands, flats/houses, gold, silver, etc., i.e. diversification.
I don't understand well what is this "external economy", but I'd like to advise you to read this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Externality about the externality.
2. How can family assets best be transferred across generations (bequests and inheritance)?
The easiest way is to have only one child. In this case it's so simple and clear, I think.
3. How does tax policy (tax subsidies and/or penalties) affect personal financial management?
Simple -- more taxes or penalties = less money.
4. How does credit affect an individual's financial standing?
Depends of the certain individual. If he or she is able to earn well and got some great business ideas, then a credit is very welcome! But if he or she is just poor and haven't any good business ideas, then a credit may be a trouble. Learn more about the loan servicing -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loan_servicing
5. How can one plan for a secure financial future in an environment of economic instability?
Oh, it's not very easy, in my point of view. The best, in my opinion, is this one to change his/her own environment and just to move from the environment of economic instability to an environment of economic stability. Otherwise, I think, he/she needs to read and learn a lot Economics and Finance, and Philosophy, Psychology, etc., as well, in order to get more knowledge about the world around. If you have better or/and just more ideas, please share them here! Thank you in advance!

I'm not a monetary investor and I'm not a corporate giant. I'm not even a businessman. I want to become a businessman. I'm poor. All I have is a small flat, some cash and furniture, plus TV set, PC, air-conditioner and a few plants. My offline income is not big at all and my online income is pretty symbolic. :( I have many good business ideas. But where is my business angel? I need one so much!

Except RMB(CNY), I do prefer EURO. You may be interested: http://www.xe.com/currencyconverter/convert/?Amount=1&From=EUR&To=CNY (http://www.xe.com/currencyconverter/convert/?Amount=1&From=EUR&To=CNY)

Currency questions and topics
Well, let's continues this thread with some currency questions/topics. I think that it's a very good idea.
OK, so Which country uses the shekel as currency
It's a very easy question. The country is Israel. Sources: - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Israeli_new_shekel (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Israeli_new_shekel)

Yuan as reserve currency
At first, let's see what is a reserve currency: A reserve currency (or anchor currency) is a currency that is held in significant quantities by governments and institutions as part of their foreign exchange reserves. The reserve currency is commonly used in international transactions and often considered a hard currency or safe-haven currency. People who live in a country that issues a reserve currency can purchase imports and borrow across borders more cheaply than people in other nations because they don't need to exchange their currency to do so.

Well, the IMFund has approved PRC's yuan (RMB) into its elite reserve currency.

This is not a surprise for me.

Plutonomy
I learned an interesting word: plutonomy. It's from Greek πλοῦτος, ploutos, meaning 'wealth', and νόμος, nomos, meaning 'law', a portmanteau of "plutocracy" and "economy"; a term that Citigroup analysts have used for economies "where economic growth is powered by and largely consumed by the wealthy few." (From: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plutonomy.)
