SEO and More. 14 Ways to Get More Traffic to Your Website.

Beyond SEO for Attracting More Traffic.
It Takes More Than SEO to Get Traffic to Your
Website.SEO, Email and The Art of Driving Traffic.

If you’re in business you probably have a website.  At least I hope you do.  And I really hope it’s a website built with a business purpose in mind.  Like building your list for permission email marketing.  Or generating leads that fit your sales process.  Or selling products via your shopping cart.

If your website is just sitting there as a static, online brochure then please get help.  Especially if you want to compete in the 21st Century.  Otherwise you can count on your competition eating your lunch.

The buzzwords in online marketing tend to be centered around SEO (search engine optimization), PPC (pay per click advertising) and Social Media.  But there’s much more to it than these tactics.

So let me share with you a list of the many ways to get traffic to your website.  I would like your comments here on the blog about which of these you would like us to help you understand as we work to develop new education content to share in the WealthNet Partners community and in upcoming seminars and webinars.  Your feedback is really important so I hope you will invest a couple of minutes to add a comment below in this regard.

Here is a fairly comprehensive list of the many ways to drive traffic to your website.

1.SEO.  Search engine optimization includes two broad categories including on page and off page.  On page means your content including keywords, text and images.  It also includes the title tags, alt tags, and descriptions built into your source code.  Search engines can see this stuff.  Which is a good thing if it matches what people are searching for online.  Unless your whole site is designed in flash.  (I actually still see this from time to time.)  The off page stuff really translates to links.  Back links are links on other sites that enable people to find you.  Search engines like high quality links.  Try to goof with the search engines and they will goof you back.  Focus on quality links and avoid crappy link building services.
2.PPC.  I wrote about this a while ago.  It’s all about buying traffic to your website.  You can turn it on and turn it off instantly.  Doing well with PPC means you need to know what you’re doing with ads and campaigns.  You need to test and learn.  You need to make sure your site is converting so you actually generate a return on investment.
3.Blogging.  You’re reading one.  If you are passionate about your subject matter you too can knock out useful blog content.  Or you can pay good writers to write for you.  (I prefer to do most of my writing, actually all of my blogging to date.  I also use ghost writers for projects, books, and client work.)
4.Email.  Yes, email marketing works.  But do it well.  This means be consistent, personal and relevant.  Which means don’t be like the freaking loser who spams my list and yours.  I try not to hate anyone but spammers make it tough.
5.Social media.  Being social online can make a huge difference in driving traffic to your site.  Like email though, don’t be a fool by being in everyone’s face and telling them how great you are and why we should drive over to your car wash today.  Interact.  Teach.  Offer value.  Be engaging and interesting.
6.Webinars.  Teaching sells.  Be sure to offer great value from an educational standpoint.
7.Podcasts.  Another form of teaching that sells.  Ditto on offering value.
8.Forums and Blogs.  Participating in forums and blogs enables you to engage.  Ditto on offering value.
9.Video.  People love video.  Even I need to do a better job with this.  Use Youtube, Vimeo and other popular sites.
10.Public relations.  Online press releases can make a huge impact if done well.
11.Articles.  This has to be done well because Google will penalize you if you distribute content and links via Link Farms.
12.Infographics, ebooks, white papers, and cool content.  Once again, these are all means of offering value by teaching.  Do it well.  If you stink at writing and designing cool looking content then be willing to pay for talent.
13.Word of mouth.  If people find your content cool they will tell their friends and family about you.  If they don’t, they won’t.
14.Seminars and workshops.  Speak and grow rich.  Just be good at it.  (I have a killer speaker coach to send your way if you’re interested.)
So there you have it.  SEO and more.  14 ways to get more traffic to your website.  If I forgot anything you can think of please leave a comment.

The question I most often get is how the heck do I as a business owner or professional find or make the time to do all this stuff?  The simple answer is you have to care enough to do some of it.  I don’t know anyone who does it all on their own.  Me included.  I leverage talented people and I PAY them.  You should too.

Please help us understand which of these subjects you would like to see more education content on in the form of webinars, emails, seminars, etc.

Sometimes in the world of SEO, you can get too deep into the technical side of things.  It can be very easy to concentrate too much on getting long term results in the organic results which means you can forget about the other ways of getting quality traffic to your website.  Don't get me wrong - a long term SEO strategy is one of the best marketing tactics there is.  However don't overlook the quick wins that can bring an increase in traffic in a shorter timescale.
The first covers a lot on your website, pick your main keywords that you want to rank for and make sure they are in your main headings/titles (H1, H2). You also want them in your URL and scattered through the content of the page (note Google likes at least 200 words of relevant copy to the keyword per page). Don’t over do the keywords, just a couple is fine and even better if you can link from them to another relevant internal page.

Blog commenting is really a bust link these days as Google knows that they get spammed like crazy so that does not play into your favor.

Forum posting can work really well, but it’s really time consuming although at the same time, it can give you some great insight into your market.

According to me SEO is the best for organic traffic but if you want inorganic traffic then SMO is the best option.

If your website ranks on page one of a search engine, you would experience a boost in organic traffic and if your website ranks in the top 3 positions or the featured snippet, you are more likely to see an immense boost in your website traffic.

Here I’m going to talk about SEO strategies to increase traffic

Keep Blogging
Blogs are the spaces devoted to information and content regarding your industry and provide readable solutions for your user’s query. blogging generates organic traffic from search results.

CTR and bounce rate are Google metrics used to measure website performance that helps in ranking the website on the SERP and they keep your website visible to your target audience.

You need to know that for constant organic traffic, your blogs must be up-to-date and authentic. Your targeted traffic is very smart and expects knowledge that is updated.

Write User-Specified Phrase
The keywords are very important in bringing traffic to your website and are also preferred by Google to rank your organic website due to their use as metrics to measure website performance.

As I previously stated, Google ranking is user-centric, thus you must utilize relevant keywords to boost your domain’s organic traffic.

Meta Title And Meta description
The <meta> tag includes information about the web page itself. It acts as a mini advertisement for your website.

The meta must have the display limit as given by Google, i.e. 55 – 60 for meta title and 155 – 160 for meta description. Try to remain within this limit.

Write Engaging Content
You must have known that your content is extremely important when it comes to ranking in SERP.

So, you must use long-tail keywords but not keyword stuffing. Along with that, use some real-life examples to make your content more appealing to your users.

Linking
Your organic website just needs Google Panda to realize its presence and the simplest way to do it is by “link building”. That is using links within your content, other websites using your content’s hyperlink (simply called links), and even using social networks for linking.

You have to provide an enhanced website, keep blogs coming in regularly, provide high-volume keywords, present the right amount of metadata with the level of content that boosts your traffic engagement with your website.
