Title: Redirecting to my game site.
Post by: Glasgert on October 18, 2021, 11:04:29 PM
I made a website for my game. I also want to buy some similar domain names that will direct visitors to my main site. Can I do it without hosting? I read somewhere that this can be configured on the domain name registrar side. What do you think about this?

It's easy. These additional domains can be added from the cPanel. I mean something like "cPanel > Domains page". On this page, the "Create A New Domain" button or something will allow you to add an additional domain and set an independent document root. So you need only one hosting. Of course, I don't know how many domains do you want to add and what your current hosting provides.

In our hosting it is like this: 1. Go to your cPanel. 2. Go to "Domains" (click on "Addon Domains", which is between "Domains" and "Subdomains"). 3. You'll see the info that is "An addon domain is an additional domain that the system stores as a subdomain of your main site. Use addon domains to host additional domains on your account. " By the way, read more about the concrete phases here: https://docs.cpanel.net/cpanel/domains/addon-domains/ (https://docs.cpanel.net/cpanel/domains/addon-domains/).

Yes, many registrars offer this option. This option is called “Domain Forwarder”. And it's usually free. I checked with the Pananames registrar. I use this registrar, this option is there, but I do not use it.

Yes, I know that this can be done through the hosting control panel. But this option does not suit me. So the registrar side would be preferable.

I do not argue that in some cases this function can be convenient. ;D
